As we experience 2020 like no other year, we might start to question everything. But it’s my belief that it is in the toughest of times that we learn the most profound lessons. 2020 is a special year and now even the simplest things keep us more grounded than before.

“Sometimes, the push we need comes from looking inward” — The Lady Nudge

Today, I present to you the easy - and not so easy - nudges that helped lighten this year’s punches.

Luvvie Ajayi described her first sky-diving experience in her Ted Talk, "Getting Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable"(watch here), and these are a few lessons I learned.

Let's hop right in...

1. It starts with You!

Particularly in this uncertain time, you would have seen quotes that say something like, "If you don't learn a new language, learn to code, learn to grow your carrots, etc., before the lockdown is over, then you have not achieved anything." Or others say, "If you don't achieve any of these, it's ok."

Yeah, this could be a little confusing for young people.

Whether you choose to climb Kilimanjaro tomorrow, learn to bake bread, want to write a book, change your diet, or rather sit and drink green tea, it all starts with you. You, yes, you! You first have to believe in yourself and the choices you make.

You have to trust that God has equipped you with all you need to succeed. Believe in yourself. And even if you fall (please, don't fall if you choose to skydive, pun intended!), you remember what got you started in the first place, and you can surely go back to your Source and reboot.

2. Be open to Pareto-efficiency!

To make one thing better off, something else would receive less, making it worse off! Sometimes there is this temptation to try to be perfect before going after something we want in life.

To transform our lives, we have to give up trying to be comfortable and flawless all the time. Comfort is overrated! It's okay to disrupt what you used to know to get to where you need to be. But something has got to give! Let go of that tradition or way of life that has always been.

Open your mind to the lot of possibilities that God has in store for you! Most times, one door has to close for another to open up. Even when you lose something, all is not lost. You are gaining something new - a feather to your cap of life experience. Shake it off and prep for another level of greatness. Not easy, but you can do it!

3. General Opinion is a cut-throat strategy!

Do you leave yourself at the mercy of others who try to make you feel like you need to reach some level of mastery before you are worthy of sharing who you are or being your best self?

Why do we make so much investment into what others think? No matter how grande anyone is in one area of life, we are still students in another.

There are a ton of experiences that we should be sharing and using to transform the lives of others (if only we allow ourselves too!).

But our unconventionality and originality scare us! We can either choose to rise to unprecedented heights or cower to what we used to know or what we heard. It all starts with you!

So, if you are reading this at the moment, remember you are your critic, your ride-or-die, your first-believer, your competition, your laugh-at-your-jokes, and not-feeling-up-to-it-but-still-do-it-anyway person.

I hope you feel nudged to come out on top even while quivering with fear, speak up on what matters to you, and do you on a better level. However, you feel the drive today, believe you have all you need to get to where you need to be. God has promised to take care of His own, He's got your back! Even you can flourish in chaos!

Well, until next time!

Love & Peace,

The Lady Nudge.

'I tell you not to worry about your life. Don't worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food or clothing? Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth much more than birds? '

Matthew 6:25-26 CEV
