Hi Friends,
I believe you are feeling great and flourishing in your season.
For the next two weeks, we will talk about consistency, which is different from staying the same or being unimaginative. This is having a kind of steadfastness, relentless, commitment, or the art of always showing up no matter what (1 Corinthians 15:58). Being consistent is two-sided; what you see and what we see; your crown and your cross; your long hours and your awards or accolades. None comes without the other.
“The key to success is consistency.” — Zak Frazer
Most times, we see your shiny armor, not the bloody sword. We hold on to your trophies, yet we forget the battles and rollercoaster emotions you go through and the continuous prayers that you send up to heaven (Hebrew 10:23).
Rather what we miss are, the times you felt like you escorted your peers to earth, or when you felt almost salty and felt shut off from the party (no judgments because we keep it real here).
So if you're nodding your head by now, you have endured the pains of consistency, and also celebrated its wins.
This week, we will begin gently by discussing the 3 great joys of consistency (James 1:17). We might all be at different stages of our 'consistency training'.
Therefore, I am writing this post as if we are already there, so it gives us a feel of what we should expect from our consistency (Hebrews 11:1).
Purpose
Whether it's following a dream, building a routine, committing to a relationship, a job, or a calling, there are moments you will feel boxed in. Waking up every morning would seem the same, and that's the part we never get to see. And you don't mind because you choose to embrace the little things that remind you of "the why" (Galatians 6:9)! You have decided to stay driven by writing down your goals, and affirmations everywhere you turn (on your phone, wall, mirror, the corners of your computer screen), building a vision board, and adding something fun to your routine, so you always look forward to something.
“Do it again and again. Consistency makes the rain drops to create holes in the rock. Whatever is difficult can be done easily with regular attendance, attention and action.” — Israelmore Ayivo
Your choice to stay consistent has set you up for success, leaving you centered on your purpose.
In a nutshell, by staying unshaken and steady in your purpose, you never forget why you started what you are doing, and now YOU ARE WINNING!
People
The part of your consistency we never get to see is the relationships you have to let go of to keep the clarity of your vision. We never see the noise around you that you have to shut off, so you could hear the real music! We only see your well-trimmed, and carefully selected garden of relationships. God in your consistency keeps blessing you with the courage to stop watering dead plants (Proverbs 18:24)!
“You were not called to be popular but to be powerful” — TD Jakes
You did not hold onto relationships, wondering that if you keep showing up as your best self, it might be lonely. But through the slow and painful process of consistency, you're building a legacy and a great reputation. All of a sudden, you are the confidante - the reliable, and trustworthy one. You are not scared to drop some dead weight here and there, and you practice resilience in the connections that spur your vision. You gracefully put yourself out there, and now watch as your consistency will reap the rewards of godly friendships that make your heart smile (Proverbs 17:17).
Place
Your consistency changes your perspective about the places you want to be. Even though we never see how you were left out or depressed because you felt stuck, or the races you didn't win. But you know, because your consistency keeps showing you how far you've come. You remain committed because you want to get to a place where you don't feel the need to compete; you become your competition.
“However you consistently show up may not be who you think you are, but it’s who you’ve become. If you want to be your best self, consistently show up as your best version.” ―Richie Norton
You get to this place where you don't feel the need to be the life of the party or always be in the spotlight. You become satisfied in setting up the karaoke station and then stepping aside. This doesn't mean you have never been the life of the party or never will be. But right now, your consistency makes you content enough, to stay in your lane, and serve your purpose. Your consistency teaches that you see that your work and investment will speak for you, as you watch God multiply and honor your work.
As you follow your dream, don't try pretzel yourself into pictures you are not to be a part of, but only destined to capture. Remain consistent, and ready yourself for your party season!
Love & Peace,
The Lady Nudge.
