How do you tell your story; in words or pictures or both? How do you envision the life you want for yourself? Do you have flashes and glimpses of God's plan for you?

Does God keep nudging you to an idea? Do you have goals that need to get activated? Do you need to adopt a way of seeing things more clearly and through a different set of eyes? Are there thoughts bustling through your mind that need to come into a place of observation?

Then a vision board might be for you! Especially for those of us who see things in pictures, glimpses, and flashes, a vision board is a physical compilation of your dreams, goals, aspirations using visual aids.

It is creatively expressing clear intentions and goals you hope to work towards and transform into. It is breathing new life into pictures we see, and the thoughts we have - creating a place to observe and watch as they come to reality. It is creating your accountability chart of where you are and where you want to be.

This isn't magic. It is the power of visualization. It is viewing your goals in your mind's eye, attracting and internalizing what God is leading us to do, and putting them in words.

As a child of God, it is prayerfully taking what you see (your goals and dreams) and viewing it all through God's eyes. It is denying self-will and aligning with God's will (Romans 12:2).

We cannot achieve our dreams by just visualizing and affirming them to ourselves every day. We have to humbly submit our plans to God (1 Peter 5:6). A vision board becomes more meaningful when we're all about God's purpose and plans for our lives.

Personally, as a visual person, this serves as more of a 'goal-board.' I picture my goals in my head and see them in pictures. It took a while to finally do this because the fear of 'what-if-it-does-not-work' is real.

So once I see a flash in my mind, and I take it to God in prayer, then I write a few notes about it on my phone. By constantly reminding myself of those words by faith in God and working towards them, the pictures of my goals and dreams in my mind become more manifest. We all have our ways to come about this.

I honestly believe that it has always been God's will for us to have an observation of what He is leading us to do.

'Then the Lord told me: “I will give you my message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance. At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time, but keep on waiting— it will happen! ' Habakkuk 2:2-3 CEV

Only you can tell what kind of vision board you need in your life at this point - whether it is a faith, career, retirement, or health board. As the dreams bustle through your mind, I pray that you receive a revelation about what God is telling you to do.

'‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’ ' Jeremiah 33:3

We must stay open to God's will, recognize that God is faithful, and His plan will not always happen as exact as we think it would. He always exceeds our expectations and gives us a better version of what He knows is best for us (Ephesians 3:20).

Also, having a vision board is not assigned to a particular gender or age group. We have seen people across various age and gender groups who have effectively used the power of visualization.

Creating yours should be in a way that is best for you - a collage of pictures and words, using a phone app, or just writing down significant words. Even though our needs for a vision board may vary, here are some reasons why having one can be empowering.

God takes you (more) seriously

We already have front row seats to God's grace, yes! He does take us seriously, but we have to act on our faith. Not only do you show faith by charting out your intentions, but you show commitment to what God is calling you to do.

God finds your faith attractive (Hebrews 11:6).

As you take a step to pursue God's will, there is an awakening of your faith (Romans 5:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 1:3) and a conviction of the power of God in you (Hebrews 11:1). So whenever you feel an idea come to you, prayerfully put it before your King and let your vision board constantly remind you of the work ahead.

You take you seriously

Have you ever felt this renewed courage that comes as you can definitively set goals and intentions for yourself?

Because your thoughts are falling in line with God's vision (Philippians 4:8-9), you become more aware of the life you see yourself living, and your vision board serves as a reminder and a motivation. Your focus changes as you align yourself with God has called you to do.

Since vision boards are dynamic, by checking off goals you have completed and by adding new intentions, you surely see how you are doing.

There's this "my-price-just-went-up" feeling you get when you set intentions to achieve a new skill, eat healthily, a new prayer goal. You build constant gratitude to God. And you begin to have an appreciation for and drive from seeing how far you've come.

Things begin to happen: The law of attraction

Pondering upon and embodying our intentions have a great effect on how we see things. There is a reason the bible says, "According to your faith, shall it be done to you." (Matthew 9:29). “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). “And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22).

"The law of attraction states that whatever you focus on, think about, read about, and talk about intensely, you’re going to attract more of into your life." – Jack Canfield

I could go on and on about how practical and relevant the law of attraction is. If we focus on, think about, read about, and talk more intensely about the word of God and the things of the Spirit, they become manifest in our lives.

I wouldn't even consider this reason if I haven't experienced it myself and in others. Exactly a year after creating my first vision board, I went back to what I had written down (with a little doubt in my mind), and I was amazed.

These weren't goals or intentions that I expected to happen magically, just ones that aligned with what I envisioned. But things shifted!

Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it. – Maya Angelou

You may not receive precisely what is on your board, but guys, God is faithful and rewards your faith, no matter how little.

Your vision board focuses your thoughts on your intentions, and what you see in your mind comes into your hands.

It was Michael Dooley that said, "Thoughts become things." Open your mind to the possibilities God has for you, give attention to and internalize them. Choosing to see life the way God intended makes a huge difference.

Well then, there you have it! There are a host of other reasons, but these three stood out for me, and I hope they inspire you to step out in the pursuit of what God has in store for you.

As always, it is my prayer that you dare to ask God for His will with unwavering faith and have the patience to listen to what He is calling you to do. I pray you intentionally put out your goals as a reminder of how far you have come and what you have to achieve. And that you activate your faith by holding in your mind consistently God's purpose and plan for you.

Love & Peace,

The Lady Nudge.
